Ultra-bioresistant Zwitterionic ligands

Novel, rapidly growing group of super bioresistant, non-fouling agents consist of several molecules exposing distal zwitterionic groups on the surfaces. These compounds follow the bioresistance dogma postulated by Prof. Whitesides and coworkers ( Langmuir, 2001, 17(18), 5605-5620) sharing 4 important molecular features:

  • be hydrophilic;
  • be hydrogen acceptor;
  • do not be hydrogen donor;
  • be neutral in charge.
