Yet another unique product for Sharpless "click" chemistry (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2002, 41, 2596-2599). SAMs composed of acetylene-terminated thiols react with azide containing groups from solution via Cu(I) tris(benzyltriazolylmethyl)amine-catalyzed coupling (J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2005, 127, 8600-8601). The reaction proceeds well even in the presence of purposely introduced nucleophilic and electrophilic impurities. This product complements the azide-terminated thiols we sell (see TH 008 and FT 010). The longer alkyl chain alternative Cat No. FT 012-m9 is odoreless and thus exhibits superior handling features over the shorter one due to its high volatility, intensive odore. Also the longer alkyl chain tendts to form more compact SAM formation.
